Double page spread body copy

Rap has been around as early as the 1920s though that sort of rap is not the rap we see now. Through all the years, Rap has created a strong bond with lots of people, letting people speak their mind through lyrics so people can listen to the music and have a feel about the artist problems or the artist creates their music so people can enjoy it. Rap is always changing for better or for worst, getting bigger and bigger every day with new artists coming out and new listeners finding it out.
The ‘Golden age’ of rap came about from the late 80s to early 90s, with lots of famous rappers like Run DMC coming out in 1988 as well as Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg releasing tracks in 1993. During this golden age of rap, the expansion of gangster rap joined in with all of it. It’s all about the lyrics that are used in the songs and what they mean!

Rap today is much more inclusive with many other genres mashing into it one popularly being Hip-hop. The rappers that you would most likely know the most are from the sound cloud like Lil Pump, Ski Mask the Slump God and XXXTentacion. These rappers are all very different and have their own things going on but are all part of rap. The way rap has differed from the golden age is now everyone wants better production to the songs they make and are not all about the lyrics used in the songs.

Rap in North London is bigger than ever! We’ve got an exclusive interview with a new upcoming hip-hop rappers band from North London, ……… They have been around since 2014 just posting music on YouTube and SoundCloud until 2016. Then they had the big hit that had a massive boom in the hip-hop rap scene for North London and brought them a lot of attention. This new fame reached wider across all of London. From then they made 2 albums with one having hit platinum meaning they have had over 300,000 people purchasing their album. Alongside that, a new album will
hopefully, be coming out in the near future and we were lucky enough to grab a chat with them!

Q & A
What inspired you?
Person 1: The thing that inspired me was from when I was around the age of 13 I was really into listening to lots of different rappers and the most influential rapper that I found was most likely The Notorious B.I.G. even though there are so many I just found the music and lyrics important and how he made them.
Person 2: I was in the same secondary school as him so I got into the same things as he did, but I didn’t find that much inspiration from just one rapper it was from lots of different ones.
What are your thoughts of the golden age of rap?
Person 1: my thought of the golden age would be that it was the best and most influent time that has ever come for rap and I think it will be the last. I hope that as many young kids today listen to the old rap and should appreciate how it was at that time
How do you think North London rap scene will grow?
Person 1: I don’t think that the rap scene will grow but I think that it will evolve into something else for example grime, this is an evolution of different sorts of the genre going in to rap. As the Americans have something else going on with all their gun violence and things like that we will have a different approach as we have that little bit of a different culture.
What has changed since you have become so big?
Person 1: To be honest I don’t live my life differently and I’m not a different person I’m just able to purchase things that I’ve always wanted.
Person 2: Ye I would just say that money has just changed and as we are very lucky from all are fans purchasing are albums we can get the things we want and even make more music with the money we get.

The reason why I chose to do a Q&A is that it involves the reader and makes them feel like the artists are talking to them. This is also conventional to rap magazines. Using the Q&A makes the magazine have a lighter feel to it and doesn't make the magazine to heavy with information. The reason why it a Q&A follows the codes and conventions is that used with other magazines in the same genre, as young people read this it is easy for them to go through and keeps it a lot more interesting for them to read.  The way this body copy follows the conventions of the rap genre is because the article about the golden age of rap is one of the main reason as to why rap is so big at the moment and its one of the most influential music moment in history as a new genre rises up and becomes a massive hit. The Q&A would follow the conventions of the rap genre because it is the typical type of content you would see within traditional industry standard rap magazine.

This is photoshop I have opened this so I can get the correct template for the front cover being A4

This would be the template for the double page spread so its all in the correct format.
I have created an A3 template.

Here are the pictures that I will be using for the front cover. As it shows the suburban area of London going along with the rap genres:

This would be the double page spread picture showing all 3 of the artists:

Here is the front cover not edited. this shows all 3 artists in a very dramatic pose so this should draw more attention:

As you can see the codes and conventions of the rap genre would be the danger as all the red is showing on their clothing this would represent how rap is a danger with gangs and blood involved. The location also helps to shows suburban North London giving more of a rough feel to it. The codes and conventions it follows for the magazine would be its portrait and keeps the group into being the main focus. Also partly being a low angle shot to show how much they are growing and getting bigger as a group. This would also show dominance as the camera angle is looking up at them.

This is a picture of me taking the photos showing the creation of productions materials:

Here are images of me setting up the camera equipment. I set up a tripod, in case I needed to capture more stable shots:

Here are other photos that I took that I could use:

This is an issue from XXL magazine. As you can see I have similar codes and conventions from what I want my magazine to do. Of look apart from the background but the clothing and the layout of texts are similar this is so I can get a rap look to my magazine. As you can see this is partly similar to the picture that I took as it shows all the artists in the from cover apart from this one being on a higher angle making them face up not down as this magazine shows the "freshman class" which is all about the new generation going up so this has the opposite representation as my one. As compared to my one I am changeling how the high angle makes the audience feel more dominant and making the artists looks smaller.

Here are the thumbnails of all the images I took:
