Planning and preparing a pitch 


Learning outcome 2 (U21): Be able to create a proposal and pitch for an original media product based on a given brief.

 Original Presentation: This is the practice pitch that I presented to my peers to get feedback.
 

Potential questions I may be asked by the Client: (M2)

How will you be advertising the magazine?
I will be marketing the magazine within social media, for example, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter this will be good as this will help my target audience and it can easily attract them.

What other competitors are there?
The other competitors would be XXL, complex and The source these competitors are more of national competitors the more local ones would be Mix Mag and Q.

What resources will you be using?
The resource that I will be using will be stationary, computers and programs to help with the editing like for example using word document for the articles as well as Photoshop for the front cover and double page spread.

Why do you think Hip-Hop is a good genre to be used for this magazine?
The reason as to why I think that hip hop would be a good genre for this magazine is because that its a very big genre at the moment and that young adults really are enjoying it so it would be the best genre to use and it would be the best so we can expand the magazine to other parts of London.

How is the magazine focused on North London? 
The way the magazine focus on North London is through using new upcoming artists within the area and have interviews with them to show out the North London rap game and how they are doing within it.

Why are you going to use a monthly magazine?
There are not many other magazines that release weekly as well as creating a detailed interview in a short time that is specified within North London would be very challenging to do so keeping it to monthly would be good as we would have enough time to get information and make it.

How might you expand this magazine to the entirety of London? 
The way we could expand this to the entirety of London would be to make different ones for each part of London and then combines them all together to make a group Magazine for the whole of London rap to show the importance it has around the whole of London.
Amendments: 
From all of the feedback I received, I made lots of different amendments to the pitch to make it better. I added more information to the objective explain how it features rap within the magazine so my idea is a lot clearer for the people watching. For the form, I added in the colour scheme and the reason why I would have the size in A4. I then put in what recourse I would be using for the magazine as well as personal meaning what people will be working and what they will be doing so it shows that I know what I need and how much it can be. I also created and added the sketch of the front cover and double page spread, also explaining a little about what the article will feature in the double page spread this was so again to show my idea in a clear form and so that it's easy to understand. From the feedback, I also knew I had to fix the fonts for the masthead so I screen to shoot them and placed it into the slideshow.

Meeting the client brief. (U3: M4, D1)

Learning outcome 4 (U3): Be able to carry out post-production techniques and processes for an original media product to a client brief. M4 I have exported them both as a Jpeg, and by clicking on the images you can see that. Layout: The layout of my magazine keeps to all the code and conventions of a regular magazine for example having the masthead at the top and have lots of different cover lines. I also placed in a bar-code to make sure that it looks like a magazine front cover not a poster. In the double page spread I placed in the numbers of the pages making sure its looks like its in a magazine. The skyline of the magazine has lots of different artists that the magazine would talk about. The strap line has 4 free posters in side. issue number is the first one and pricing is £4.50 this all keeps to the client brief as it would hit the codes and conventions for a print based music magazine.  Evaluate the reponse  Learning outcome 3 (U21): Be able to pitch ideas on a proposed media product and respond to questions D1(U21) Feedback:  The client provided me with four different pieces of feedback and from this I will look at the differences between the useful points, which will help me to develop my product and the points that do not add to the creation of the product. The client first asked me about my colour scheme.   He questioned if I had any other colours other than the ones stated during my pitch for the magazine. I explained that I planned to only include three colours to create a stronger brand for ‘Shout Out’ -red white and black.  One of the useful comments that were given was to use more than the other 3 colours. This is a useful comment because using only 3 colours would make those colours look bit overused and boring so using other colours for the magazine to complement different artists on the cover would be a lot better ...
